Too bad she'll be turned into beef soon (cows are slaughtered at what age? 9 months?).

Yes. It is just now frosted where I live at for the first time and we are just now starting to feed hay. We allow the cows to be out during the winter time, but they have a barn for shelter purposes.

You're still feeding hay outdoors? I should be so lucky! We've brought our cattle in for the winter! Although, I'll admit, I do let the milking herd out sunny days. Just to stretch their legs, don't you know! Well, that, and to save on bedding costs! :) James.
